Whilst every dog owner is legally obliged to ensure that their dog or pet is wearing a collar and identification disc, owners must now have their much-loved companions microchipped so they can be identified through microchip technology.

What is a microchip?

At Moss Cottage Boarding Kennels Manchester, we think it’s good to give your dog a chance to get used to the surroundings of a kennel environment. It gives your dog a chance to soak up the atmosphere and see other dogs and get to  know our staff before coming in for a stay.

There are various options available, regular day boarders where you bring your dog early in the morning 8am so you can still get to work on time and then collect your dog at 6pm or before (please contact us to discuss your needs).

As a one off day boarder this is great service if you are going off for the day or half a day, if you have that all important meeting or just fancy a day of shopping  and just need to know that your dog is in good hands and being exercised regularly. We have exercise/play areas with plenty of toys (all dogs exercised individually) and then afterwards your dog can relax in his own kennel.

Cattery Accommodation

Our Cat Houses are all indoors in our modern, state of the art UPVC building. Each cat house is fully insulated with its own full length door giving access to the individual exercise/play area or they can make use of the cat flap which takes them  through onto a viewing shelf where they can relax and watch the world go by and then run up and down a ladder, again into the individual exercise /play area. The cat house is spacious and roomy and has a heater under the sleeping shelf to give your pet a nice, warm, cosy place to lie and of course stretch J. Covered cat loos are provided which afford them their own private moment and a scratch post is in each cat house. Viewing windows are either side of the exercise areas so that your cat can have a good look at what is going on around them.

Cattery Food

Food is provided for all life stages. We have our own Chayo brand cat kibble, as well as all the other top brands. Dry food is left down all day for the cats to nibble at their own speed. You can provide your own food and we would ask that ‘specialist diets’ are provided but unfortunately no reduction in price will be made.

Cattery Bedding and Scratch Poles

We  provide quilted bedding and pet blankets for your cat/s although you are more than welcome to bring your cat’s own bedding/soft bed if you wish. Each Cat House has plenty of room and we also provide a cat scratch pole.  Again, you may bring any other toys etc to make your pet feel at home..

Cattery Lighting

We have dimmed lights on in the cattery at night to reassure your cat.

At Moss Cottage Boarding Kennels Manchester our payment is by way of cash / debit card / credit card (2.3% interest charge) on arrival or departure but ‘cheques’ are only accepted on arrival. All prices above are inclusive of Boarding, Food, Exercise, Heating and VAT. Specialist Diets will need to be provided by the customer (unfortunately no reduction in price is made).

All animals must be fully vaccinated and the Kennel Cough vaccine is mandatory for all dogs. All vaccinations must be up to date and we will require proof of this in the form of a veterinary certificate.

Kennel Cough

It is possible for kennel cough (canine bronchitis) to be passed on anywhere that dogs congregate. Kennels with a rapid turnover of guests can be particularly susceptible. We ask that all dogs are vaccinated against the disease, and any dogs coughing will not be allowed to board. Please ask your vet for details of the vaccination, it will have to be administered at least a week before boarding and now lasts for a year so is easy to get when your dog has its annual booster.

Accommodation

Moss Cottage Boarding Kennels Manchester provide individual heated kennels of various sizes according to the breed of your dog. All the kennels have an overhead heater, which is turned on at 6.30 in the evening and stays on right through until the next morning. Each kennel has its own outdoor run. We also have larger ‘double’ kennels for families sharing. All the outdoor runs are covered to protect your pet.

All plastic beds are provided. We also provide Vet bedding and Pet fleece bedding which is washed when needed during your pet’s stay.  You can bring your own bedding but we do not accept duvets or beanbags. The best thing you could bring your dog is a worn t-shirt or jumper smelling of yourself, as your dog will find this very settling. We use sawdust in our kennels, however we can also use training pads instead of the sawdust if you wish.

Reception and Feeding

We feed a variety of different foods for all life stages including dry, tinned and fresh meat. We also provide treats every afternoon. Please inform us what food your dog is used to eating so we can avoid stomach upset. We like to stick to the same feeding routine for the dogs so please let the staff know what times you normally feed your pet and how often. You can provide your own food and we would ask that ‘specialist diets’ are provided but unfortunately no reduction in price will be made.

Fully Stocked Petshop

Our Pet Shop stocks all our pet food that we feed the dogs and cats here at Moss Cottage Boarding Kennels and Cattery. We also offer a wide range of accessories for dogs and cats including collars, leashes, grooming equipment & bedding.

Exercise

We have 4 purpose built exercise paddocks for the dogs. They are fully enclosed so your pet can have a free run about and play. We also provide toys including Footballs and Frisbees for exercise. We never put any dogs together for exercise, unless they are from the same family and you have expressly asked us to do so.

Nervous dogs

We have the patience and understanding to look after nervous dogs. Our facilities are ideal to care for and manage frightened dogs/cats in order to reduce stress.
